Simple Joys: Picnics

I love packing some sandwiches, fruits and drinks for a picnic in the park.

There are few things that beat the summer heat, than sitting down with some friends or a significant other, and just soak in the summer sunshine (or shade!).

One of the first weekends this summer, BF and I grabbed a baguette and some brie from the local markets and walked down the water front for a little picnic.  It was beautiful 🙂

What are some of your favourite things to enjoy outdoors?  Favourite picnic items?

Ooh, don’t you just love a nice picnic on a not-too-hot summer’s day? It is truly one of life’s simpliest pleasures.

Come to think of it, I haven’t had a real picnic in a long time – the kind you mentioned with just a basket of food at the park. But it does sound nice. Some fruits, bread, cheese, and sandwiches would be great finger food.

Well, we’re in the depths of winter here, but just last night we walked up to the local shops, had dinner (build your own burger), then bought a couple dollars worth of hot chips to snack on on the way back home. It sounds simple – and it was – but it was just SO nice and relaxing. And it didn’t rain 🙂

Oh, and I love picnics. We usually do it with some bread, salads, maybe some cheese and a roast chicken or other meat from the deli section.

  5. Young Mogul – Agreed! 🙂

Jersey Mom – That sounds like the perfect picnic to me! Maybe add some wine 😉

eemusings – Cheese and bread is my favourite picnic staple. But maybe a roasted chicken should be added to that mix, as well!
